Looks very good. Ive seen lots of threads and videos about diy rock but never had the artistic approach before, Mine would probably end up looking like an odd shaped tennis ball lol

Nice mate, I also made my own, but it took 6 months for the Kh to drop below 12, I would have made it for my next tank but i didn't have the time :(

Cheaper, shapes you want and no pests!

There was or still is a member on here that made his own rock from cement and rock salt. Can't find his post now, but he posted the recipe I think. He had it cycling for 6 months before it was ready too. I visited him the other day a he has been adding additive to grow coralline and his rocks has now got some great purple on it. I was so impressed I will be trying some myself soon.

So tempted to try this eventually but not too sure I would end up with what I had intended to have lol. The time factor isn't too bad when I compare it to the dead rock that is in my new set up. It has been cycling for a good few months now and is still keeping my phosphates high.

You make a shape with wet sand and fill in the gaps with your mix :) its not to difficult. Sand, oyster shells and Portland cement and rock salt is what I used :) I might make some more on Monday so I will put up some pics :)

Be very careful you don't use any old Portland cement, it has lime in it which is lethal to fish and corals.........

It was about 6 months. But if I had a river to leave it in I'm sure it would have been half that!
