#81299 I'm too soft with young reefers

Posted by Nanomitch on 17 June 2013 - 07:53 PM

Just had some guy come round for corals and brought his 9 year old son with him. Had previously told the guy the frags where £10 each. Then his son pulled £20 out his pocket and said he wanted 2 corals with his pocket money but couldn't choose because there was 4 he liked.

Needless to say I let him have all 4 half price for £20 also threw in some rock leg crabs to control his algae problem and a hand full of brittle star fish as he loved them.

Don't mind loosing out on a bit of cash just to see a young lad who is in love with reef keeping.

Hi guys
As we have seen in another thread Gazc31 has had a full tank wipe out
We at Zoa swap have always prided our selfs on a great family spirit So have a look in your frag racks to see if you have something spare that can help gaz back in his feet
I will start the ball rolling with a Rasta and a Armageddon

after what I've seen tonight with the tank sale with the squabbling over who had first dips on it I'm really sad to say I've had enough and I resign my position as mod on this forum
I think it's bad that this very friendly forum has turned into this
Is it all just MONEY now lads where's the love of the hobby gone
I used to log on for a great laugh and some good banter now it's all bloody sales

#187263 To the bumpers...

Guys, I am tired of people taking advantage of the auctions and bumping them to the top.

Anyone that bumps an auction again will have them deleted regardless of bids.

Bumping spams up the forum and is unfair to the other people running auctions.

Word !! There Scotty

You know the only reason I joined this site ....was the " a little help bit of help" thread by djnash
Where our ole chum....lost all his zoas ...and loads of members chipped in to help his collection by sending freebies...
I've had a tank crash...I've lost loads myself...and ive been helped out......so yeah ive helped...and I still do
I even pay the postage....yeah you do get piss takers...but that's life
But on here I have found a small group that I will always help out.....money don't mean much to me......it's all about the love

And paying forward.............spread the word!!

Oh ...and we have the odd laugh....and wind up Mo in the process......bonus....ha ha!!

I will get it to 150 morphs - then will launch the site :)

#149087 Members please read

Posted by Jason on 13 April 2014 - 09:41 PM

Hi guys

I have recently noticed a disturbing trend with some members jumping into swap threads, and derailing them with solicitations to buy the zoa.

This is not acceptable. It shows lack of respect to the person trying to swap and goes against the entire foundation that we built Zoa SWAP on.

Anyone soliciting or trying to organise sales in a swap thread will have their post deleted - There will be no exceptions

It is as simple as that.

Life's to short to worry what others are up to Darren. I especially wouldn't give up something I enjoy because of others.
It has been happening for years and will continue to, All those cultured discs that tmc bought in for instance, I bet the only whole disc's that exist are still in the lfs not sold yet.
Enjoy what you do mate,

With almost a thousand members the last 2 years have been a blast on the forum. We have met some real characters so this thread is dedicated to members and things I have read........

Thanks for the memories!

Well I'm still alive despite my absence, lots going on with work unfortunatly so I'm having to take a step back, but I've been harbouring these little beauties for a few months now and can't help but put this first pic of them up.

Hope everyone is keeping well.

#195734 Ban me if you want

Posted by Lisavickers1 on 30 September 2014 - 10:58 AM

As above, but I spend a lot of time reading and looking at stunning pictures of zoas that one day I hope to get, also try learning to frag, I fell I love with the zoa as it is, I don't necessarily want to spend thousands on them (iv got 4 kids after all and I'm sure there is some law that's stops me selling them to fund zoas 😒).

My point is and has already been made a lot, that unless you are a business then as long as you make your money back whats the odds it you bought X zoa for £20 and when its grown as big as you want it fragging it and selling them for less than you paid for the mother, at the end of the day most people on here are "collectors" not "businesses".

To be honest as someone that mainly enjoys reading how other peoples tanks are developing and growing, also learing as much about this amazing and friendly hobby, I find it a little off putting reading all the bitching.

As I said if I'm in the wrong please feel free to delete this and ban me if necessary but this is my opinion. xxx

#187513 Hallucination - I don't get it.

Posted by WelshWizard on 25 August 2014 - 09:43 PM

Rare but grows like weeds and still commands a high price! I don't get it either. Greed is all it is

From what I can understand certain sellers want to keep zoa prices high. Let's hope they fail.

I totally understand when you first import a rare zoa, but once you have grown one and recouped the cost what's the excuse then? £200 PP is unjustifiable

#149511 Lets all keep calm and relax

Posted by WelshWizard on 15 April 2014 - 02:45 PM

With recent goings on with the beloved ZS site I think people are beginning to forget what a great site this is and it appears to be declining fast....... It's a shame but hopefully we will all get back on track.

New rules, so be it.
New members, yes please keep em coming,
New attitudes? Keep that to yourself
New zoas? Give em all to me
Want to spam a thread? Go to a cooked ham forum :D
